Reid Maxwell of Simon Fraser University Pipe Band is offering an opportunity for band workshops or solo lessons on Sunday, February 17.

Rates are:

  • $60/hour for solo instruction
  • $350 for ½ day workshop
  • $600 for full day workshop

Registration is first come first served. Bands and/or individuals would be responsible for a location for lessons or workshop.

Pipe Band Competition

Saturday's events include individual piping and drumming as well as full pipe band events. Over 200 individual competitors participate in 35 separate events along with representation from over 15 pipe bands competing in 10 band events. At the conclusion of the day the audience is treated to over 300 pipers and drummers performing as a massed band. Individual and band entries in the festival and audience participation has grown annually.
Awards
Each competitor will receive a written critique from world class adjudicators for each event entered. The top six individuals in each event will be awarded medals for their outstanding achievement. As well, the gold medal winners receive a trophy. Pipe bands receive a written critique and are awarded trophies along with traditional prize money for each event.
